WHY? The study is to determine the effects of a recreational athlete’s strength and power on their performance in a 5km race. It is likely that there is an optimum level of strength and power for an enhanced endurance running performance and by understanding what this level is, relative to body weight, will aid in the preparation and training for recreational runners.
WHO? Recreational runners that are participate in the a 5km Park Run recently. You must be 18+ years of age at the time of the race.
WHAT? You’ll be required to take part in 45-60min session where you’ll perform tests including jump and strength tests. If interested, more details will be given once signed up.
WHERE? The testing will take place in South West London at the Lyceum Fit PT studio, during March and April.
N.B. The results are part of a at St Mary’s University research degree thesis write-up that may further be published and provide knowledge/insight for the future. The results may also be used by professionals to better prepare themselves/others for these races.
